Galesburg Middle School students will travel to Erie on Thursday, October 1st for the Erie High School Homecoming Parade and pep rally.
Students will depart GMS at 1:00 PM.
Homecoming Parade begins at 1:45 PM.
If you would like your 5th and 6th grade student to ride the rec. sports float please contact the school by calling 620-244-4519 or email esemrad@usd101.com.
After the parade all GMS students will travel to Erie High School for the homecoming pep rally. Students will be transported from EHS to their route buses at the end of the pep rally.

GMS Parent Teacher Conferences will be Monday, September 28th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday, September 29th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Practice time update: GMS football practice will be after school, at EHS, tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16th.

Start Time Changes: Thursday, September 17th at Central Heights: Volleyball - 4:30 PM start, Football - 6:30 PM start (The football start time may be moved back depending on the temperature). Football, Volleyball and Cheer will all depart at 2:00 PM.

Please note: There has been a confirmed case of head lice at Galesburg Middle School. Please check your student for head lice and provide treatment if necessary.

The Centers for Disease Control, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Association of School Nurses advocate that student diagnosed with live head lice do not need to be sent home early from school; they can go home at the end of the day, be treated, and return to class after appropriate treatment has begun. Nits may persist after treatment, but successful treatment should kill crawling lice. Head lice can be a nuisance but they have not been shown to spread disease. If a student is found to have lice or nits, the parent(s) and/or guardian(s) will be contacted and alerted of that situation. It will be their option as to whether or not they want their child to go home at that time.

KDHE has lifted the boil order for the City of Galesburg. Repairs are complete, and KDHE has determined that a boil order is not necessary. Galesburg Middle School will resume water usage as usual.

Due to a broken water line, the City of Galesburg has been placed under a boil order until repairs can be completed and the water can be tested by KDHE. Galesburg Middle School may lose water for periods of time while repairs are being made. Safe drinking water from a different source will be provided to students until the boil order is lifted.

No Cheer practice this afternoon, Tuesday, September 8th.

GMS Week at a Glance for the week of 9/7/26

Change to Football Start Time: GMS Football at Moran on Thursday, September 3rd, will start no earlier than 7:00 PM. At 7:00 PM both schools will measure the temperature on the field and determine if it is safe to begin the football game, based on KSHSAA guidance. Volleyball will begin at 5:00 PM as scheduled.

The 25/26 K-8 Yearbooks have arrived at GMS. If you ordered a yearbook we will be handing those out to students today, Wednesday, September 2nd.

GMS School Pictures, Wednesday, September 2nd. Your student should have brought home a price list if you would like to order school photos. Photos will begin at 8:05 with 5th and 6th grade. 7th and 8th grade photos will begin when the students arrive from Erie High School.

Please be aware, start times for outdoor activities, such as football, may change due to KSHSAA heat and humidity restrictions. If heat and humidity readings are too high at the start time of any outdoor activity that activity will have to be delayed or rescheduled. If necessary, we will do our best to delay start times until the temperatures are safe for play.
